Credit Reporting Company Acquired by EMSSeptember 17, 2009

On August 12, 2009, Equifax Information Services, LLC – Mortgage Services (EMS) formally acquired LandAmerica Credit Services (LACS). Both EMS and LACS have agreements with Freddie Mac to obtain new merged credit reports and reissue existing merged credit reports to our Loan Prospector® customers.

Effective, February 12, 2010, EMS will close access to the LACS credit platform. Until then, new and existing users may be set up on the existing LACS credit platform. The following is important information for existing LACS customers and new customers that want to establish agreements with LACS to obtain merged credit through Loan Prospector:

  • Current LACS customers
    • LACS and EMS will provide future communications about the acquisition and how to transition your account

  • New Customers

Loan Prospector will be updated in the future to remove LACS as an option from the credit reporting company (CRC) drop-down menu. We will provide you with more details on managing the transition of pipeline loans using credit provided by LACS soon.

We recommend you establish agreements with at least two CRCs to ensure uninterrupted access when using Loan Prospector’s Merged Credit Report Options. Third-party originators should check with your sponsored wholesale lender(s) for further instructions, including information about the use of technical affiliates when ordering merged credit and using a Merged Credit Reference Number (MCRN) in Loan Prospector.
